Earth Day Celebration 40th Anniversary: Truly A Green Holiday

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Earth Day, and millions of people in countries all over the world will be celebrating and renewing their commitment to protecting the planet’s environment.

Earth Day was founded by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970 and evolved from the political activism of the 1960′s. It is a reminder that we as a people have to take responsibility for our habitat on a global scale. Earth Day is not only about raising awareness about pollution and our diminishing energy resources, but a warning that time is running out to make a positive impact for our future, and the future of our planet.

We here at Planet Earth Bag are dedicated to doing our part in helping to preserve Earth’s valuable resources. Our Eco-friendly reusable grocery and shopping bags help to reduce waste and conserve our limited natural resources by eliminating the need for the manufacture and use of plastic bags.

Every year between 500 billion to 1 trillion plastic bags are used and then thrown away worldwide; and while plastic bags are convenient, the price is too high. Plastic bags not only clog up landfills for hundred of years and endanger wildlife, but their production uses up thousand of barrels of oil on a daily basis.

It’s important to us that people are inspired and empowered to make a difference in their environment by providing the tools necessary for real change to occur, no matter how small. Because it’s the small steps over time that will have the biggest impact on the environment. We hope you’ll join us in our commitment to reduce the need for plastic bags by choosing reusable shopping bags.  You are welcome to submit a reusable bags quote request right on our site by clicking the link.
